Welcome to WGHSA

What an amazing turnout for our annual kickoff! Thank you everyone who prepared a table to show other avenues where homeschool parents and children can connect. It was such a great way to start the year. I am going to need a longer meeting next year just to have time to meet everyone. So many things to do and get involved in! I hope you all are as excited as I am.

WE will post a link on our website to many of the organizations that were represented at the kickoff, but if you have any more places of interest of service to homeschool families, please let us know. We will add those.

The link to register for membership is on the website, but I wanted to include a link to the teen group for those who were not able to attend. (see below) Please remember, you need to be a member of WGHSA in order for your teens to be a part of the teen group. The third page lists an interest and planning meeting for the teen group, Thursday, August 24th at 7 at Starbucks. Hope to see you there!

LCS Cross Country Deadline 8/4

 

If your student plans to run Cross Country for LCS, you must register as an AES, have a sports physical, pay your dues and turn in your sports ad by August 4th.

If you just want to check it out, come out and run with the team on Mon, Wed and Fri from 7:30-8:30 am now until school starts. After August 7th, we will switch to afternoon practices Mon, Tues, Thurs & non-meet Fridays 3:30-4:30 pm.  Cross Country is available to homeschool students in middle school and high school.

WGHSA Kick Off Meeting Aug. 17th

As hard as it is to believe, it is time for the WGHSA kick off meeting for this year.  Please join us for fellowship, registration, and information on the 2017-2018 school year with our organization.  Kick off meeting will be Thursday August 17, 2017 from 6pm-8pm at South Crest Church, LaGrange.   Everyone is asked to bring a finger food, WGHSA will provide the drinks and paper products.  Kids are welcome to come with you to the meeting, though no childcare will be provided.

If you or your organization would like to set up an informational table at kick off, please email me at melissaawesomesauce@gmail.com by August 10, 2017 to reserve one.

There will be a place set up for selling used books and curriculum. Money for your items should be collected individually.  Just make sure your name is clearly visible on the books, etc.

We hope you all have had a wonderful summer and we will see you there!

Weather alert – field day change

DUE To thunderstorms, rain, and freezing cold weather (lol but high of 58* is really cold for Georgia in May ever!) we are going to postpone Field Day and book sale to May 8th. Same time and same place.

I apologize for the shuffle, but we will all be able to celebrate field day together in much better weather conditions!

See you all Monday! — and don’t forget to put some books together for the used book sale, now that you have a few more days.

Used book sale

Book Sale Info:
📕Sale is Friday May 5th (Field Day) 11:30-12:30 in the RBC gym. Please have all items set out as soon as you can Friday morning.
📗We need all sellers that can volunteer to work a 30 minute shift to help the cashiers & to help ensure things are running smoothly. Please email Janice Bryan to sign up for your volunteer time slot – jdbryan4@gmail.com
📘Tag your items clearly – put your first & last name & price. If you are selling sets -please secure them together & mark your label with how many items are in your set. If items are not marked clearly they won’t be sold. This helps the cashiers tremendously. (See pic)
📙Bring an envelope with your name on it (see up)
📕Buyers- we will accept cash or checks payable to WGHSA. Please use small bills if possible.
📗Sellers- you will paid as soon as possible at Field Day.
